Life experience - Crazy lies…

We all have those days where everything happens and goes wrong.

Alarm did not go on, you are late, you cannot find your shoes, you burn yourself while trying to get a quick coffee….if coffee was actually available instead of realising that you ran out...anyway I could keep going on how wrong a day can go

Then you have the small moments in life which when they happen might be so incredible that you cannot believe they are actually happening

If you tell a friend about that adventure, you get the look...yes the look that says: “ you are such a liar” ….no way this can actually have happened.

I gave that look on some stories that people told me because those stories were making no sense whatsoever

Any how, here are the stories I was told that I found hard to believe to start with and now you can read them and make your own conclusion

The smallish lie that most people believe

England - I was at a summer camp where we live for a family for few weeks, go to school in the morning and then visit museums and different landmarks in the afternoon, great experience and lots of fun.

But it means that you are a teenager among other teenagers, and we well know how teenagers can exaggerate, sometimes….

So there is that girl in our group , who tells us how she is so annoyed all the time by the little boy from the house, he is going to her room all the time when she is out and goes through her belonging

You will tell me, well yes all that does not sound strange at all...until I tell you that she mentioned that she has started locking the door

Once again, not a problem until you remember that a few days early, she mentioned how annoying it is that she cannot lock the door….

At that moment, my little sceptical head just could not stop wondering, she mentioned she cannot lock the door but now she locks the door….

Being suspicious, I start mentioning the fact that...uh?…. “ you could not lock the door?”

You can imagine, at that moment, all the other kids make a circle around us and it becomes, looking at me, looking at her….waiting on her reaction

Very calming, she says “I pull a poof behind the door to lock it…”

Everyone smiles and nod in agreement….and start leaving again

Now, I do not know about you but fair enough when you are in the room you can put a poof behind the door to jam it…

but how do you lock the door when you actually leave the room…?

I still wonder...how did she lock the door from the outside! Am I the only one, wondering that!!!!

Moving on from small lies, to slightly larger lie

I always wonder why people decide to lie rather than manning up and do the right thing

I was dating that guy before the time of mobile phones, yes some of us were born in the dark age!

I actually do not know if anyone could live like this anymore...food for thoughts…should we be able to spend an afternoon with our phone left at home….

Anyhow, coming back to the story.

His work meant that he needed to get some work done at night, he would leave around 10pm and come back around 7am.

There were shift, and the recurrence was pretty straight forward, you worked every 6 weeks for a weekend - Friday, Saturday, Sunday night

Monday Tuesday would be off.

And then return to normal on the Wednesday until Friday and this for another 5 weeks

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy…

Pretty standard, there was not much change to that except for the holidays and the odd times when you could switch if needed with a colleague

Oh yes, due to the nature of the work, there were always 2 people working together, safety first.

So far, so good.

I did not know many of his colleagues but one lived in the same building as us with his wife and kids.

Now that the scene is set...one Friday he tells me that he was asked to swap shift and needed to work that night

The time is 7pm and he needs to be leave to get started at 8pm…

I mention that normally shift does not start before 10pm...

First warning bell

Of course, there is some paperwork that need to be completed

That was never mentioned once in the previous 2 years that we were together……

Smelling a rat yet!

Anyhow, moving on, he goes to work

Being home alone, I decide to go and do a little shopping

Walk to the local grocery store, where I bumped into, indeed , you have guessed correctly, the co-worker he was supposed to work with

Trying not to be paranoid, I do not mention anything, and I think that maybe he swapped too for some reasons….

The night comes, the night goes and when I get up the following morning, little friend comes home over 2 hours after the regular time….

Second warning bell

Asking how the night went, he mentions that there was once again more paperwork to be completed in the morning due to the specific difficult night.

Nonchalantly, he mentioned that him and our neighbour had a very rough night

monkey in shame.jpg

I was actually amazed, I just gave him “the look” mentioning that I bumped into his “alibi” last night

At least he had the decency not to try to cover up the story with an even larger story….

Now that we went through the appetizers of lies, let’s move on to

The King of lies

This one is actually hilarious, in how ridiculous it was….

On Friday of Saint Valentine, boyfriend decides to go to the pub.

After a few drinks, I suggest we go home.

He decides to stay….

First red flag,….. it is Saint Valentine after all...any man knows what it means…

Anyhow, no problem I make my way home, watch a movie and go to bed

2am I woke up to no-one.

Try to call the mobile phone, yes we are now in the 21st century and people have mobile phones,

they are not mini computers just yet but you can get a phone call as long as it is on…

As you can imagine, I do not sleep for the rest of the night, Saturday comes, Saturday goes and still no news

I actually go to the police to see if they have any news but nothing

I rang different hospital, no news, his mum no news….

Sunday comes and around 2pm, who strolls back home….

Lots of mixed feelings….happy that he was alive, mad of his lack of contact

He starts telling me the craziest story of all time

Please take a sit and grab some popcorn because you are going to be taken to the most extraordinary tale of all times

Once upon a time, it was Valentine’s night

After I left, few of his friends decided to go back to their place for further drinks

Party ended early morning and therefore they slept in until late afternoon

So far, so good once again, nothing strange

The fact that he did not think to charge his phone or to ring the house phone - yes we had one of those - does not seem to be in the story

Anyhow, they decide to have some breakfast/lunch/dinner whatever that meal is called knowing that you have not eaten yet for the day...

because they are heavily hungover, obviously.

Then he finally decides to go home.

When walking to the bus, he is witness of 2 people fighting and decides to intervene….as you do?????

The police arrives at the scene, and as everyone is fighting, they take the 3 of them to the police department….as they do!!!!!

Still no sign of a phone call, or asking for someone to contact me...

oh yeah the fact that I did go to the police if you remember well...and that there was no record of this arrest….moving on swiftly

So they arrested him for the night, the following day - Sunday - they decide to release him without recording his arrest or his stay at the station,

because well he was being a hero….right

superman.jpg

OK so that is Sunday morning, you will tell me so how come he was not home before 2pm?

And I will say, thank you for asking!

Well here is the cherry on the cake, one of the arresting officers was going to finish his shift and suggested to drive him back home if he wanted...as you do when you are a nice police officer.

So maybe he can hang around, have some breakfast and get a free ride...to his MUM because he remembered that he had told his mum that he would come to help with some items that needed fixing in the house!!!!!!

So went to his mum, fixed the items, had some lunch because all that makes you hungry….still no phone here and the fact that I rang his mum….did not seem to trigger either of them to contact me!

To finally walk home to me….

Oh yes I almost forgot….his hair was full of glitter!

Best explanation EVER - that Friday night he slept on a couch and well that is probably where he got the glitter from…

I found hard to believe that story but maybe, you will think I am being harsh….

Until another time, wishing you a very good day
